FAQ's

  • Why is all the tableware plastic when plastic is bad for the environment?
This is a fair question. Plastic isn't totally bad, its a great invention which allows for durability and sturdiness for many of the items we use in our life. However single-use plastics and things that are thrown away quickly are a real problem. We looked at wheat and bamboo alternatives but sadly whilst they sound much more sustainable and eco-friendly they are made with a plastic resin to keep it together. They also tend to shatter and break fairly easily which means replacing them more often. We live by the old motto, "buy well, buy less". We've been up and running for 2 years and haven't yet had to thrown anything away. But when we do, we will send them to Brother's Make in Dorset who recycle items into homeware products.
  • Is it BPA free?
All of our plastic tableware is BPA Free as is the hot water urn.
  • How do I book a kit?
Simply go to our 'Shop' page, select the items you'd like to hire and select 'Checkout' when you're happy. Add in the notes what date your party is and we'll get back to you to confirm availability and all other booking/payment details.
  • Where do I collect and drop off from?
Our premises is our home address so 7 days before your party we'll contact you to take the hire payment and arrange collection with yourself and let you know where to come.
  • How long do I get the kit for?
We usually offer collection from the day before your event with drop-off being up to 2 days after. We endeavour to accomodate any requests for longer hire periods but this obviously depends on availability. Just get in touch and we can discuss your requirements.
  • Why are there scratches on some plates?
All of our kits are reusable so there may be signs of use on some items, however unless they are no longer fit for purpose, we use them in rotation to ensure our goal of being as sustainable as possible is upheld. Once items are no longer fit for purpose or safe we send them to Brothers Make in Dorset to be remade into house hold items such as coasters.
  • Do I do the washing up?
Yes, however on checkout you can add on the washing up option and we will take care of that for you. Just ensure that all food and sauces are scrapped/wiped off, bunting is outside of the plastic box and all the tableware is accounted for and we'll get scrubbing for you so you you can go home and have a cuppa. If you're happy to do the washing up all of the tableware items we hire out are suitable for the dishwasher up to 70 degrees celsius. They will need a wipe over with a tea towel before being put back in the box to ensure they're completely dry to prevent mould.
  • What happens if I need to cancel?
Sometimes things happen and parties have to be cancelled. You may cancel the booking with a full refund at any time prior to 7 days before the start date of your hire. A cancellation charge of 50% of the deposit will be due should you cancel within 7 days or you can opt for us to retain it for you to rebook. The full deposit will be kept if cancelled within 24 hours of agreed delivery/collection. If I have to cancel your booking for any reason, including changes in Covid-19 government guidelines and regulations, you again, will receive 100% of your hire cost and deposit back.
